Instead of cards and gifts for our clients, we spend the 12 days leading up to the holidays giving to different charities, groups and people in need.  It’s become an annual tradition, and the team participates by helping choose who we donate to.  Here’s where our time and resources went this year:

Las Vegas Rescue Mission

Organizations that support those recovering from addictions are near and dear to my heart.  We donated money for holiday dinners to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission this year.

Purple W.I.N.G.S.

Purple WINGS provides group and one on one mentoring to at-risk adolescent girls in Las Vegas.  They primarily support girls and women who are survivors of sexual violence and human trafficking.  Mentoring takes time and resources, and there is only so much grant support to go around.  Purple WINGS relies heavily on volunteer time and donations from the community.  For this reason, we opted to provide ongoing fundraising support to this group, and we have named Purple WINGS as our recipient for the CompTIA Channel Chief Giving Circle donation this year.  CompTIA is a huge champion of advancing women in IT, and we’re proud to be members of a community that gives back.  CompTIA donated $1000.00 to Purple Wings on behalf of Managed Sales Pros this holiday season.  Thank you!

Three Square

Food Security is an important issue to our team.  Many of our team have had periods in their lives where their next meal wasn’t a given.  Three Square ensures that children in Las Vegas have access to healthy lunches and take home meals.  We especially like to donate to Three Square because our bank matches our donation every year.  So, thank you to Bank of America for making our gift go further!

The Shade Tree Las Vegas

The Shade Tree provides support and emergency shelter to women and children leaving violent domestic partnerships. Many families need to leave their homes immediately and they are unable to take anything with them. We donated new winter jackets in extra large sizes, fleece baby sleepers and personal care packages with shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors and combs.

Operation Safe Winter

Operation Safe Winter is a team of Las Vegas volunteers who collect, sort and distribute new and gently used blankets, hats, socks and mittens.  Las Vegas winters are unpredictable, and those most in need of warm clothing may not have access to it.  The best part of Operation Safe Winter is that many of the volunteers have experienced homelessness at some time in their lives.  This isn’t a charity, just a group of people doing good and giving back.  We’re happy to help them!

Baby’s Bounty Las Vegas

Diapers aren’t covered by EBT.  They are considered non-essential items, like cigarettes or liquor.  (What?) Many families will leave the hospital with a newborn baby and no diapers.  We bought four large boxes of newborn diapers for Baby’s Bounty to distribute, but more importantly, we’re doing an outbound diaper drive over the holiday weeks while our clients’ campaigns are suspended.  We hope we can encourage others to donate so that no family has to choose between healthy food for their family and diapers for their baby.

Main Street Project/Martha Street Detox

This Winnipeg organization provides help to those experiencing homelessness and recovering from addictions.  This is one of the organizations I’ve been supporting personally for many years, and a group that I’ve had the opportunity to spend time volunteering with.   Without recovery, my family and my life would look very different than they do today.  It is with much gratitude that I continue to support this group.

Other Stuff…

We do a few things that aren’t directly supporting charities —  things that just make the world a bit better.  Every year we surprise our team with something on Day 8.  This year, that surprise was health insurance for all Full Time Employees in Las Vegas.   We are excited that we are finally able to make that commitment to our team.

On Day 7 we distributed cold weather care packages to our team so they could hand them out to someone they saw who needed one.  Each pack had warm gloves, socks, mittens, a hat, snacks, some cash for coffee and water. On Day 12 we distributed Christmas cards with $20 bills inside them to random strangers at the airport so that people could enjoy a free lunch or share that money with someone else who needed it.   It was a fun way to finish off our #12DaysOfGiving tradition for this year.

To our clients who made all this possible, thank you, and Happy Holidays!  We appreciate your business, and we wish you a successful 2017!

We open up for business again on January 03, 2017 and calling for campaigns resumes on Monday, January 09.  Happy New Year from all of us at Managed Sales Pros – we hope it’s your best year yet.
