Christmas should be a joyful time, surrounded by friends and family – but it isn’t for everyone.   If you are struggling this holiday season, please remember there is help.  One in three Canadians will experience a mental illness or substance use disorder in their lifetime; More than 10 Canadians die by suicide each day; … Only 57% of Canadian adults and 43% of Canadian youth report a high capacity to cope with unexpected and difficult problems and day-to-day demands.

The donation for day 11 comes from our Director of  our Managed Services division, Ashley Battel.  Ashley is a huge hockey fan, and when we asked him to select something in line with our #12DaysOfGiving theme, he found just the thing!  Our gift on day 11 goes to Project 11.

Inspired and created in honor of Rick Rypien #11, former player of the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose. PROJECT 11 is available to support students in grades 5 to 8 with virtual tutorials educating students about mental health.  Removing the stigma that surrounds mental health earlier in life, teaching appropriate coping skills and creating more empathy for each other, Project 11 works to bring mental health awareness to children much earlier.

PROJECT ELEVEN is an engaging cross-curricular prevention program targeting Manitoba’s English Language Arts and Physical Education/Health Education outcomes. Weekly lessons and daily activities have been designed to help support students and teachers in bringing mental health awareness, along with positive coping skills into their lives.

Project 11 is one of the many inititatives established by the True North Foundation,

We are proud to have them on our #12DaysOfGiving list this year!
